Launched by BioPAD in October 2004 as a forum for stakeholder interaction to encourage an advancement of ideas and breaking down of barriers between science and business. BioForum provides a networking and information exchange platform for the BioPAD region.

It attracts stakeholders from the Industry, Academia and Science Councils.

Over the two year period of its existence it has attracted a number of local and international speakers working in the biotechnology and related sectors.

 It serves to fulfill the following objectives:

  • Host events and provide services that will improve and enhance the successful commercialization of biotechnology and related businesses in South Africa.
  • To act as a primary information portal for investors seeking business opportunities and partners in the region.
  • To create a network of motivated and committed partners from business, research communities, venture capital firms, and support agencies to explore the transfer of skills and knowledge in the world of biotechnology business.
  • To facilitate networking and dialogue between members of the large and growing biotechnology community in the region.   
  • To organize effective meetings that brings together the basic ingredients for a successful biotechnology industry - commercialisable ideas from researchers, entrepreneurs, and capital.
  • To provide a networking and information platform for the BioPAD region.
